281: Radio Silence

I was talking to one of my friends in the park - one who knows about (and is hugely impressed by) my weekly blog posting.

I mentioned that this has been a 'slow news week' in that very little has happened - and certainly nothing out of the ordinary.  My friend suggested that I just give this week a miss and leave the blog post until next week when hopefully something will have happened.

I countered suggesting that she (for it was a 'she') did not understand the nature of a weekly blog and further pointing out that it is the cyclical, regular nature of blogging that maintains the link between author snd reader.  Miss a blog post and your audience starts to slip away.

We continued our conversation (our owners were chatting about the weather or something) and came up with some ideas for the blog.  However all were rejected as being not interesting enough (for my discerning readers) or re-workings of subjects discussed in the past.

Madge (strange name for a dog … but dog owners are not always sane beings) then said why don't you just report on this conversation - the one we were having at the time.

Since I had nothing else coming into my empty mind,, that is exactly what I have done.

If this has not grabbed you (or at lease kept you mildly occupied for a few minutes in your drab, dreary life, then I apologise.  If my comment about your drab, dreary life offended you, I also apologise … it was the result of my drab, dreary week - and I extrapolated the idea a step too far.  Perhaps radio silence would have been a safer, and wiser, choice.
