264: Hot Stuff

It's been hot this week.

I quite like lying in the sun in the garden, though about 15-20 minutes is enough before I have to go inside and cool down.

The problem with the heat is exercise.

It is hard to maintain any exercise regime in high temperatures. This means I am forced to either walk more slowly or walk less distance - preferably both.

There are some dogs I notice in the park continuing to run and chase their ball or a squirrel.

Don't they know the danger?

Its seems that dogs are creatures of instinct rather then wisdom.  Only a few (such as me) have developed their intellectual capacity to the point where they can override instinct and make a sensible, rational choice as to what action to take in any given circumstance.

I have found from long and rich experience (did I tell you I've just turned 10 years old?) that moving slowly snd taking lots of rest is almost always the sensible and rational course of acton.  It has served me well.

10 years old snd still in my prime! Never been fitter in my life.  I put it down to the carrots … snd lots of sleep, of course.

The only negative thing about this heat is that the pup (Philip) has gone away again.  He is gravelling by train (whatever that is) throughout Europe - France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Italy, Greece, Croatio, Bulgaria, Rumania - possibly more but my memory fails me.

It must be the heat.

Anyway, I'm off for a nap.
