263: Deserving of Respect

Well.  Here I (still) am.  Even though I am now of advanced years.

Last Monday (21st April) I was 10.  10 years on this planet.   10 is quite old for a dog … though I hope I have a few years left in me yet.

My beans gave me some special treats to mark the occasion.  The rest of the world gave me …. Nothing.    Nada, zilch, nought.

Not even from my mother (wherever she is).

Even my friends in the street ignored this important date.  No banana, no carrot, no chicken skin.   No cards, no emails, no telegrams.  No greetings, no guard of honour, no balloons.

Still this general lack is matched by … no arthritis. No heart problems, no breathing problems, no cancer.

In the great scheme of things, I’m doing rather well.

I put it down to the way I have looked after myself (with a little credit going to my beans, of course).

I have systematically avoided the kind of exercise that might have caused me stress or injury.  Slow walking does not cause hamstring injuries or induce stress on the heart.). If you don’t attempt to catch balls thrown by (presumably well-meaning humans), you don’t damage your teeth or gums.

So, as I go for my (slow, short) walks this week, I have been keeping my head in the air.  As a grand old dog dame, I am proud, even supercilious.  If you see me, show some respect!!
