295: Big, Red and Noisy

The title describes the kind of vehicle traversing our street for the last few weeks.  Worse still, it seems to defecate large plastic barriers that intermittently reorganise themselves to prevent access to different driveways, different sections of the roadway and different connecting roads.

And to compound the problem, some of the residents refuse to park their cars on their own drives. Instead they park on the pavements opposite aforementioned barriers, creating restricted routes for both road and pavement users.  When I go for my evening walks (in the dark) I take my life in my paws and make it (more) difficult for John to manage me on the lead.  Of course I take advantage and try to arrange it such that John and I are on different sides of obstructions (barriers and traffic cones) and he gets tangled and tetchy.   This little game, which I can currently play on so many of the streets of the estate, is the saving grace of the situation - though I would rather these interlopers finished whatever it is that they are doing and moved on to disrupt a different community.

There are early signs of ‘end of project activity’ but I don’t know how disruptive the clear- up process will be.  Its a matter of hope and pray.  Otherwise I’ll have to organise a protest.  We can all carry placards saying :“Free the Roads’, “Restore Access” and “Give us back our Driveways”.

Coco is with me (very militant that one!).  How about the rest of you? Are you in or out? A dog or dormouse?  Time to stand up and be counted!
