274: I Was Right
Yet again, my reading of body language and unspoken signals more generally proved to be correct. John and Jacky were, as I suspected last week, planning a holiday. Luckily it was only for a week and they are back now.
They have been to somewhere called the Outer Heb-rid-ease which, according to what they have been reporting to Phil, is a series of islands off the cost of Scotland. Highlights were some ‘standing stones’ (I would pay good money to see stones that were not standing but running around or dancing) , some old cottages and the various ferry journeys they used to hop between islands, The list of highlights seemed very sparse to me but I cannot always understand what pleases human beans.., they did meet some nice people and found the people of Scotland to be friendly and helpful.
They are now trying to settle back into the routine and rhythm of their life here - and this is where I see myself helping. I intend to wake them each morning at 6:30 and to bark regularly to ask for food. They will soon thank me for restoring the former equilibrium and I might even receive bonus treats for being so helpful.
Of course, Phil now moves from being main carer to an also-ran. Just as well as he is off this weekend to some music gig in Tynemouth. Some group called Elbow are playing - in the open air, so luckily it looks as though the weather will be fine, though it may be too hot for me in Leeds. Heat is not very good for me. It curtails my normal, boundless energy and means I have to tone down my exercise to preserve both my physical health and my sanity.
Now, I’m off to practice my food-seeking-barking. Wish me luck!
